Last night I finally saw part one of Mockingjay!

Jennifer Lawrence basically cries in every scene, reprising the role of Katniss Everdeen.

Josh Hutcherson isn’t in the movie very much, but what screen time he has is pretty strong. Either he did an incredible job preparing for his role as a prisoner of war, or the effects were misleading.

Other notable performances are those of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, and Natalie Dormer.

I thought it was as true to the books as it could be but it’s disappointing that they followed the Twilight franchise and made this final installation into two parts. Completely unnecessary based on the book’s brevity.
